Over the years I have written a lot on this website about making money as an online copywriter.
But there is another way to make money online as a writer.
You can make money as a web content writer.
What is web content?
It’s all those text pages on a website which are not sales pages.
In fact, content pages are the lifeblood of any website. They are the reason most visitors come to a website. They contain the information people are really looking for.
They are also central to getting search engine traffic. Put simply, with all other things being equal, the site with the most high-quality content pages gets the most traffic from the major search engines.
So if you like to write, and don’t feel copywriting is a good fit, consider writing web content for money.
The kind of web content companies and entrepreneurs are looking for include:
- Articles
- Product and service reviews
- Product and service descriptions
- How-To guides
- Q&A pages
- Blog posts
And that’s just scratching the surface. Take a look at a few company websites, exclude the sales pages – and look at all the other pages. Those are the content pages.
To quickly gain an expert level of knowledge as a web content writer, the next step is to become a member of my new site, Web Content Café.
When you first visit, you'll see the site is aimed at people already writing content for websites. But don't worry...it's for beginners too. You'll simply be picking up the tips the experts are already using.
First, read through the free articles on the site. You’ll pick up a lot of best practices, and get a feel for the kind of work web content writers do.
Then, if you are serious about wanting to make money as a web content writer, sign up for membership.
Membership gives you access to all the articles and, even better, a daily web content idea.
These daily content ideas are posted five days a week, every week. And there are dozens of them already archived in the membership area.
A few weeks into your membership you’ll have the expertise you need to present yourself as a web content expert to prospective clients.
It’s like taking a course, but one page at a time, day by day.
