The Keurig B60 – the perfect one-cup coffee maker for your home office.

Keurig Special Edition B-60

This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything like a coffee maker. Usually I review courses, reports, guides and other resources for freelancers.

But I’m going to make an exception for this brewer.

Being productive as a freelancer is influenced by all kinds of factors, including comfort and convenience.

I have had my Keurig B60 for only a few days now but, in so far as is possible with a kitchen appliance, I love it.

If, like me, you like good coffee...

Like most people who drink coffee, I have a regular drip brewer in the kitchen. In fact, it’s a grind & brew coffee maker – the kind that grinds the beans and then drip-brews the coffee, all in the one machine.

And that’s great for first thing in the morning. It takes a few minutes to brew, but I then have several cups of coffee waiting for me.

So what’s different about the Keurig brewer?

Well, there’s no grinding, no filters and no mess.

Which is why I can have it in my office, on a counter close to my desk.

You buy the coffee in “K-Cups”, which look like oversized pots of the creamer you find in gas stations. These plastic pots contain both the ground coffee and the filter.

So you turn on your Keurig B60, make sure there is water in the reservoir, wait for the display to say “Ready to Brew”, then place your K-Cup into the machine and press the start button.

The coffee pours directly into your cup or mug (there are three size choices), and you’re done.

If you work from home, the big benefits of a one-cup brewer are:

1. It’s clean and easy. So grinding coffee beans. No yukky, wet filters. No spilling. Once you’re done brewing, you just take out the used K-Cup and drop it in the garbage.

2. You make just one cup of coffee at a time. So if you feel like having a coffee later in the morning, in the afternoon or evening...it takes just a couple of minutes and you’re done.

3. The machine I have, the Keurig B60, is very nicely designed, is good to look at, and fits in quite nicely in my office.

4. And the quality of the coffee is excellent. This isn’t like making “instant” coffee. The K-Cups that came with the machine contain really good coffee. So it’s not like you have to make a big compromise on coffee quality.

Finally, I think it is legitimate for freelancers to invest a little time and money in creating a comfortable, productive work environment.

I know a lot of freelancers tend to be a little cautious about investing in their home office. And for sure, we all have to watch our cash-flow.

But in this case, as someone who loves a good cup of coffee several times a day, I feel perfectly comfortable in having invested in this brewer.

I can enjoy a cup of coffee whenever I feel like it... without having to go down to the kitchen to make a whole pot.
